As she wandered the halls, Laura's thoughts inevitably turned to her benefactor, the mysterious Snake-man she had taken to calling Unknown. They had interacted once, maybe twice since arriving at this building; he seemed involved in something or other, and Laura was content to leave him alone in his experimentation. She had learned that his bizarre features were due to an infusion of Snake powers, although she wasn't quite sure how the powers worked or why they worked; the one thing she had yet to learn was his name. He had said that his name didn't matter, but Laura didn't believe that in the slightest; if they were going to work together, she would have to know his name, or they couldn't form a bond.
Speaking of working together, Laura had yet to see Unknown deliver on his promise to help her communicate. She understood that there were other things likely more important than her to him, but being able to communicate clearly was one of her wildest dreams; refraining from helping her was just being mean.
