Unique Characteristics: Three birthmarks are located on his face; two are under his left eye and one is under his lip on the right side.
Personality:
Jay is very studious. His reasons for hesitating to get a real Pokémon until now consist of his worries that he will be underprepared for battle. In order to overcome this fear, he studied Pokémon and engaged in lots of conversation with the Professor. He is well learned on topics like battle strategy, Pokémon types, region history, academics, and general trivia, but he lacks true experience, physical skill, or the ability to make a spontaneous decision, be it in battle or just day to day. Knowing all this, he calls himself the Pokémon Professor. Attached to this he dreams of establishing his own Pokémon research center and having himself and his assistants help new trainers get on their feet. Jay also has a goal of forming something he calls the "Pokémon League." This would be a group of the strongest trainers of Kanto who help raise new trainers and protect the region. His research is largely contributive to this goal, as he tries to find out certain properties of Pokémon types and species that would allow him to form an incredibly versatile team. In his mind, a very diverse Pokémon team is the best team, and he strives to create this balance. Although he is well learned, Jay is very clumsy and forgetful, and he recognizes this fact. Jay's normal outfit consist of a long blue overcoat, a white dress-shirt, black pants, and a black and red tie. The design of his tie varies depending on which one he feels like wearing that day, but the colors are always consistent. Jay carries around a black satchel to keep all his papers and items in order. His Pokéballs are attached to the strap.
Although he is clumsy out of battle, in battle he becomes very serious. Jay's research has lead to the development of many battle strategies which he hopes to use in battle. It would be uncommon to find someone quite as strategic as him. He also takes notes as he fights people, so he can strategize against them if he ever needs to fight them again. Because of these factors, he is a difficult second opponent, but spontaneous fighters can quickly defeat him if he hasn't gotten the chance to fight them yet. He also gets very flustered if his strategies fail.
