Pest Control (Private/Zinnia)

Gin needed several odd jobs to pay for rent after quitting his previous position. He found himself working with a partner where all they had to do was kill a few rats. Gin despised rats. They were filthy and polluted most of the poorer parts of the city, roaming the allies and other befouled areas casually. The house they had their contract at was apart of the cleaner district in the city. This posed as trouble to retail value and the sake of peace. This is where they came in. The exterminators. The mission paid handsomely giving him enough money to pay a month of rent along with six hundred coin to spare. Not bad for a day of work? Gin didn't bother changing since his "interview." He wore dress shoe, navy blue pants with a white dress shirt and a suit matching the same color of his lower garments. He was a slender male, young and handsome. He carried a folded knife in his coat pocket as for casual safety in the streets, but also as an aid for their quest.

The employer didn't offer any additional help. No traps, no nothing. This meant magic, or getting down and dirty. Walking down the road he read the addresses of the houses as he neared the objective. "8184. This is the place. It says I should meet a young woman by the name of Zinnia here to aid me with the mission. She apparently has some former experience with killing rats. That just made my paycheck a whole lot easier." Keeping the paper before his eyes he read the details cautiously as he awaited the arrival of his companion.

Another rat mission. Zinnia wasn't complaining. She rather enjoyed something like this. While she did still have a scar on her left brow from where a rat had gotten her, the majority of her scars had cleaned up rather handsomely after a few weeks of working other jobs. Plus, jobs like these gave her some fight training. Which she needed. She had recently been hearing stories of demons from the town over, which she wanted to investigate. She didn't expect to find much, but still. Demons were powerful allies. Of course the wolf wouldn't be too cocky. She knew how demons could be sometimes. Possession, and all that. But Zinnia wouldn't be deterred. After this mission, she had promised herself she'd go check it out. Besides, Zinnia was just scratching the tip of the ice burg with her new found abilities. It would be a crime not to go investigate something that could possibly lead her towards more answers.

As she arrived at her destination, she noticed a human male, looking at the street address. She sighed. Ah, of course. She had heard from the members of the League of Neutrals that she would be receiving a companion to help her with her quest. She flicked her tail. She didn't suppose she needed help, but you could never be too sure. Those rats had left some pretty nasty scars from last time. But then again, she had gotten stronger since last time. Chuckling, she approached the human, tapping them on the leg with her tail.

"Why hello there," she said with a sly chuckle, her ears twitching, "You must be the one I'm working with. The name's Zinnia, it's a pleasure to meet you," she said, watching him with her beautiful, blue and green eyes.

Time passed shortly as Gin was halfway re-reading the request note outside the designated house when the approach of his companion arrived. Her feet were rather fast as they paced along the sidewalk. Among the several passerby he thought was his partner he stopped turning his head up at each passing citizen. From below he heard a light, feminine voice ring a pleasant greeting followed by a whip lashing against his pant's legging. This erupted a flurry of questions as he removed the paper from his vision to answer them all in astonishment. From the ground standing on all fours was a light colored wolf, female by its size and...voice? Gin was in no reason alarmed by this. Aside from himself being a magic caster due to a strange series of events at a younger age, he was well aware of the magical properties in this world. Still, what was a wolf doing on a mission? Did she have an owner? Was she independent? How did she even apply? He was speechless as the pup stared up at him with alluring eyes. The expression of confusion was clearly written on his face as his eyes jolted back at the paper in his hands. Zinnia. The name is correct. Folding the paper he stuffed it inside his coat in the pocket next to his pocket knife.

"It's nice to meet you, Zinnia. I am Gin Akiyama, your subordinate for this task it seems. You have more experience than I do in killing rats." Leaning over he patted the wolf on the top of the head a couple times as a "greeting" instead of the more formal handshake which was a human custom. Standing upright he turned to the house. "Because you're the senior in this scenario, you should lead the way." Giving Zinnia the floor, he would follow her steps inside the house.

Zinnia made an annoyed face, her ears twitching somewhat, and her tail twitching ever so slightly. She batted Gin's hand away with a composed look on her face, and said with a calm, slightly annoyed voice, "Right, greetings, Gin Akiyama. I would have thought my companion would have had a bit more.... formality," she said, symbolizing that she did not find the head rub.... very professional. She then turned, and flicked her tail for him to follow. Turning around, she said, "Remember, don't let your guard down. Rats can carry rabies, you know," she said with a chuckle, her ear flicking slightly in amusement, before she led him into the building.

She had run into these kinds of problems before, what, with humans thinking they could treat her like a pet. They were foolish to think something like this. If anything, Zinnia had more common sense than most humans. To act like this was pure arrogance. Or ignorance. Probably some of the two. This human exhibited obvious confusion when she had revealed herself to be his partner. Perhaps he was just acting in the way he saw would best fit the situation. She was of the canine family, after all. Her intelligence could be underestimated, easily, do to her species.

With a loud creek, she opened the door, and went inside, beckoning for Gin to follow her.

'Monster Dice' :

The pup gave a very renown expression of annoyance. Gin found this impressive that a dog could even make radically difference facial impressions. Zinnia was one of a kind. She was like a human in a wolf's body. She didn't welcome the pat and even held the audacity to push his "greeting hand" away from her. Gin had further questions and actions in mind, but ultimately decided to keep them to himself and just treat her like a person. That would've been the best way to play things out. From her sour expression Zinnia swayed her body around and dexterously flicked her tail to call the man. He followed the wolf down the path and through the garden where they both met at the door. She was a cautious and knowledge wolf. Gin was wrong to underestimate Zinnia. The wolf pushed her snout against the door as it creaked open slowly. The owners left it unlocked for the exterminators. Before she stepped inside Gin spoke. "Uh, sorry for how I acted earlier. I was just a bit surprised is all."

Following Zinnia inside the house they were immediately greeted by a trio of small rats. They were in no way cute to Gin. He sneered at their sight. Static jumped across his body revealing a buildup of energy. The first rat darted across the room, unfortunate enough to come across the man's length. Stomping forwards he crushed the rodent's structure without causing a mess. The others scurried away at the sight of their fallen kin. Extending his right arm pointing across the room his static energy rushed to the tips of both fingers as a narrow bolt of electricity fired out, striking the first rat before it moved far from its starting position. The other one fell immediately after its partner died as the bolt jumped from the first target to the next. "That wasn't too bad. Lets see what else we can find. Now I'm no expert, but the cellar would be the best place to check out. Rats love dense, dark places if I'm not mistaken." Reaching into his coat he pulled a folded knife, flicking it to his side as the blade undone, extending the knife's full reach. It wasn't anything special and not typically designed for hunting. The knife served as a utility, or self-defense against a human. A rat would be trickier.

Leading the pup, Gin found the entrance into the cellar; a medium trap door led to a small staircase deeper into the house. The cellar was a dark place, much cooler than the main rooms. It was harder to see. They had to be cautious not to disturb the colony. If the rats were to flee the building, they would fail.

Zinnia would have made a move, if the human hadn't gotten in the way. He seemed to know what he was doing with his lightning abilities, which was rather unheard of for humans at his level. Or what Zinnia knew of his level. She hadn't exactly gotten much details on her partner, other then that his name would be Gin Akiyama, and that he was relatively weak in the ranks. Zinnia watched, a smirk on her face, as he took out the three large rats. While he was doing that, three more, smaller rats ran forward, making loud noises at her. She narrowed her eyes at the tiny creatures, and side stepped out of the way, using her heavy claws to slash one into the other, before grabbing another's tail, and hurling it over at the wall.

The last one squeaked loudly, shaking, unsure of what to do. Zinnia chuckled, and took this opportunity to lunge forward, spreading her claws out, and digging them into the skull of the rat. It screamed loudly, flailing about, before it finally stopped squirming, going limp in her grasp. She shook her head. Why had she ever thought these things were dangerous? Then again, that group had been low in numbers. Last time, all the rats had charged at her at once.

Nodding at Gin, since she didn't exactly find talking necesary at the moment, she followed him into the cellar, glancing around. Her claws didn't make as much noise as they might have once made, but it was still a hassle. They were weighted, afterall, and controlling them would put strain on herself. Not as much as it used to, but it was still there.

All of them died. The large rats Gin slew in combat were nastier than those Zinnia dealt with. As they fell Gin led Zinnia into the cellar where they would further their investigation/extermination. They should at least be aware of our presence by now. We should tread lightly and try not to cause too much commotion. Anything too loud and they would startle into hiding. With the pup behind him he slowly crept down into the cellar. He wasn't a master of sneak, though did know the basic footing and the right places to step. It was best to hug the walls due to the maximum support reducing the off chance of wood creaking. Making his way down the stairs without taking too much time he saw the next targets. There were seven of the smaller rats all gathered in the center of the cellar. This was where the nature of his magic had its flaws. His spell was weak and naturally traveled from one enemy to another. One bolt versus seven of the rats would only cause so much damage giving them the opportunity to hide or attack.

Gin stepped off to the side and gave Zinnia room to join him on the basement floor. In a hushed tone he shot a sideways glance over to him partner. "Got any miracles or should we just charge?" Flipping the knife into a reverse grip he waited for orders from his otherwise superior.

Zinnia watched the rats. As she watched them, her claws dug into the ground, and her eyes began to glow. She believed she was getting a bit better control over this ability. She would let out a slow, silent sigh, as a green gas slowly seemed to rise from the earth, appearing within a ten meter radius, practically filling up the cellar. She let out slow, deep breaths. She needed to concentrate. This spell was..... dangerous, when she was around partners. She couldn't exactly control the ability to the point where it didn't effect everyone around her, and rather, only those she desired to be effected. Perhaps she would understand the limit of her abilities soon. What she could and couldn't do.

The seven rats in the area started to squeak loudly as they saw the gas, but hadn't yet seen the human or wolf. They started making distressed sounds, and one of the rats started flipping out, squeaking loudly. The she wolf, as quietly as she could, slunk down into the shadows, keeping a careful eye on the rats, her body moving as fluently as she could make it, down into the shadows of the stairs. She gestured for Gin Akiyama to follow her, watching the rats with a careful eye.

One rat did look over in her direction, however, and she fell to the floor, lowering her ears. The rat sniffed the air, and started to approach the human and wolf. Zinnia's eyes narrowed, and she quietly tapped the ground, thinking about what she could do to get the rat to go away. They wanted to do this in a fashion that would leave them not as messy. She thought about it, and tried blowing the poison gas into the direction of the rat's face. The rat seemed to stop, twitched, and ran off. Zinnia let out a sigh of relief, before she tapped her claws on the ground again.

She then glared at Gin, sending him a clear, body-posture message, telling him not to attack until she gave the order.
