I Think I Need Some Practice.... [Job]

Today was the perfect opportunity to train, thought Emerald, or search for her friends. She still had yet to discover what had happened to the others, but she was sure that she'd find them eventually. She wasn't even sure if they were in the same place. All she knew was that she had woken up here shortly after her revival, and, well.... that was all she could really say about that. Emerald knew nothing about this world, so of course she'd be ignorant of the different lands where they could be. All she knew right now was that she had to keep looking, even if it was in vain.

She had received a letter, some time ago, telling her to come to this place, and clear it of rats. Now, how she had gotten that letter, she had no idea. She didn't recall giving anyone her address. This world still held many mysteries for her, she had thought to herself when she had received it. It also said there was money involved, and that said money would be delivered to her once the job was done. Again, she had no idea how they were doing this, but she decided to just roll with it.

Arriving at the location, she looked down at the letter again, looking back up at the building, and nodding to herself. This must be the place.... she thought to herself, double checking the street address to make sure she wasn't seeing the place. Clutching the paper, she took a deep breath. Sure, six thousand years ago this would have been easy, but her powers were still very weak from the fracture in her gem. It still needed time to regenerate all the way. Picking her head up, she went to knock on the door, but was surprised to find that it was unlocked.

Sighing, she opened the door, glancing inside cautiously, her mind weary and alert.

Job Details:

As she entered, she immediately felt a cautious feel enter her body. Glancing around, Emerald placed her hand gently on her gem, blinking. The building seemed abandoned. Odd, considering they seemed pretty eager to get this building cleared of rats. She wondered where the rats would be. The house itself was a one story, and it seemed pretty old, but not so old that it was ancient. All the stuff looked new, meaning the previous residents must have moved out. There were a few broken plates on the floor, as if someone had just strewn them across in a hurry. There was also a broken chair in the hallway.

Blinking, Emerald heard scurrying, and swallowed. The rats must be close, she thought, her body tensing. She glanced at a half opened door, which looked as if it had been bitten into. Reaching for her gem, she slowly approached the door, opening it with a slow, quiet creak. She winced as she heard the creek. She must have alerted the rats by now, she thought. Her gem glowed brightly, which could have alerted them more, as she half summoned her weapon, opening the door, ready to fight if she had to.

'Monster Dice' :

Opening the door, Emerald left herself wide open for attack, her head pressed against her glowing gem, ready to summon her weapon if she needed to. And it looked like she would. Inside the room, there were about five rats, all staring at her with beady, demonic white eyes. Their bodies were twitching rapidly, as if they were going through miniature seizures. They seemed to be crowding over a large pile of food, some of it still hanging from their oversized front teeth.

Then, with lightning fast speed, they lunged forward. Emerald gasped, not even having enough time to summon her weapon before they tackled her. Because she had already been in a summoning position, she managed to pull out her weapon, batting at one of the rats that leaped at her. This only left room for another rat to lunge, biting into her arm. She winced in pain, and tried to drive her sword into the one that had gotten her arm, only to have another one bite her heel. The other two jumped at her feet as well.

Gritting her teeth, she swung her sword at the vermin, backing up. She didn't like using her poison spit. At least, not in a situation like this. It could destroy the entire foundation of the building! And her centipede form, although useful, would also crush the building. Hissing in pain, she swung her sword at the vermin again, jumping away, and kicking another nasty beast into the wall, panting. The rats seemed shaken, and only three were still alive. The attack had taken Emerald by surprise, so she was cut up.

Taking a defensive stance, she readied her weapon, panting. Man, she really did need work. Her gem must have been more broken then she had originally thought.

'Monster Dice' :

Emerald was backed against a wall, causing her to momentarily be distracted from the shaken rats. The rats managed to take this time to their advantage, as all three of the remaining ones would charge at her. She yelped, quickly turning her head. She managed to step to the side, slashing one rat in the side with her scimitar, while the other two rammed headfirst into the wall, recoiling a bit in pain from the impact.

Her feet skidded against the surface of the wood, causing her legs to shake a bit, briefly losing her balance. She managed to steady herself, placing her arms out at a weird angle, but by then, the dastardly rats had managed to recover from their momentary headaches. They screeched at her, causing her eyes to widen. Damn!

But she didn't have much time to think about what happened next. She turn and ran in the opposite direction, her breathing labored. Her wounds stung like hell, and it made running all the more difficult. The rats, however, were fast, one managing to catch up to her, squeaking loudly and biting onto her ankle. She screamed, her pace faltering.

"Dumb.... Rat!" she hissed, taking out her scimitar, and cleanly piercing it through the rat's skull. It went limp with barely a whimper, but it was till stuck to her ankle pretty tight.

The last remaining rat charged for her wrist, grabbing onto her arm, squeaking and screeching. Emerald screamed in response, shaking her arm, attempting to detach the rodent. Slamming her foot onto the head of the dead rat, she dislodged her scimitar with her free hand, clenching it tightly. With a quick, swift movement, she slashed right into the rat's chest.

There was a moment of quiet, as Emerald panted from a combination of nervousness and pain. Eventually, she managed to prod the rat off of her. She then fell to the ground, shaking. Her body was covered in scratches, as she leaned against the wall, pressing her good hand against her forehead. How could she have been so stupid? Charging in like that without a plan.

After taking a few deep breaths, Emerald held her arm, wincing. This pain was terrible. She really had let herself get beat up, hadn't she?

For a while, Emerald remained still. She took quiet, shallow breaths, as she listened to the silence of the house. Every now and then she'd hear the creaking of the floor as something moved across it, no doubt a rat.

Then, Emerald finally decided to get back up. If she just sat around, her adrenaline would die down, and it would make the pain even worse. She carefully leaned against the wall to help support her weight as she lifted herself up.

She took a few cautionary steps, making sure she was alright. The first thing she noticed was that she was limping a bit. But this was hardly trouble. She still had a mission to do. Quietly, and hopefully more stealthily, she'd make her way through the building. Now better prepared for what to expect.

'Monster Dice' :

The creaking of the floor made Emerald wince, tense, and on edge. After all, one wrong step could spell disaster for her, were she not prepared. Not to mention, she wasn't exactly confident that this building could support her, considering how it creaked and and moaned with every step she took. She'd hold her scimitar firmly in her hands, breathing lightly as she listened for movement around her. One scurry out of the corner of her eye and she'd strike.

She eventual came to a two way split. One hallway that went left, and another that went right. She cautiously approached the split, carefully peering around the corner. Sure enough, three rats were there waiting. They were roughly 5 to 7 meters away from her, all just convulsing, similar to the ones she'd seen before. They all stood there, quiet, as if they, too, were waiting for something.

Emerald wondered to herself how she would kill them without running over there. She didn't possess any long range abilities. She finally decided the best option would simply be to get their attention, then wack them to the side as they came around the corner. Emerald, after all, didn't trust herself to be able to spit acid that far.

With a certain gentleness, Emerald tapped her scimitar against the side of the hallway, obscuring herself from view. The rats immediately perked up, rushing towards her at a surprising speed.

In preparation for their arrival, Emerald fanned back, raising up her scimitar, ready to slice them as they arrived.

The first rat turned the corner, and with that, Emerald smashed her blade deep into his skull, hurling him across the hallway and straight into the wall. This caused the building to make a strange moaning sound, shaking and shivering, as if it could fall apart any minute.

With her next swing, Emerald batted the second rat away, hurling him into a bloody heap as well. The last rat jumped for her, while her arm was still lowered, exposing its hideous teeth, as it prepared to tackle and bite her into submission. Emerald wasn't about to allow that. She spat a ball of acid straight into the rat's face.

It screamed in agony, crashing into her, before falling back to the ground, flailing violently for a moment, before finally quieting down.

Emerald, breathing heavily, stared at the rats, making sure they were dead. Once she was confident they had fallen, she took a deep breath, relaxing herself, and calming her nerves. She hesitantly kicked the acid-faced rat. It didn't move. She had done her job well.

Description: She can spit this acid from her mouth, in both her centipede and humanoid forms. Can spit it in a a ball, which has about a four inch radius when she's in her human form, and a five foot radius in her centipede form.
Strengths:

Can cause irritating burns.
Instant cast time.

Weaknesses:

If her mouth is prevented from opening, she can't use this power.
If stressed, she will start spitting the acid uncontrollably, which can hurt her.
She can only spit it within a two to four meter range of her.
