Alexei meandered through the ruins, taking in the surroundings that were new to him. He was standing in the middle of a green valley, strewn with the remains of what was probably a castle of some sort; pieces of white marble lay all over the ground, varying from pebbles to large pillars. There were even a few worn walls standing still, although they have been mere shadows of their former splendor. Everything was being overgrown by ivy and other creeping plants, making the standing pieces look even more cracked from a distance.
Alexei sighed. He would have loved to be here in its heyday; who knows what kind of grand civilization had once stood here? Countless people had probably stood in the same spot as him, and he would never know about it. It was enough to make anybody melancholy, even a God. He wished somebody would appear, at least to slake his thirst for entertainment...
