A Meeting in Darkness [Shini/Private]

Nanashi had been traveling for quite some time in an attempt to find a place to belong. After his encounter with the Jackal and the Mercenary he had spent quite a bit of time by himself learning about his magic, and had recently obtained a new weapon. Though he had many heights to climb he was beginning to grow into himself. He had heard of a warrior in Yamigakure who could help him control the blade he had obtained from the Green Knight not so long ago. It's voice was getting stronger by the day, plaguing his mind and trying to sway it's influence over him. Perhaps this person would be able to help him cleanse such a thing.

To her it wasn't just another place. To her, it was her home. She had gotten used to the new name for Konoha long ago, as did the others. It was only fitting after it was taken to this new world. They were no longer set on the Land of Fire. They were in the Land of The Dead.

It was early afternoon, the sun held high in the sky, and the woman had her signature blade taped to her back. She walked through the streets that were somewhat vacant. The thoughts of beasts echoed in the back of her mind. There was so much at hand. and so many of her people were out hunting down the beats.

But they were Yamigakure, the village hidden in darkness. Led by the sister of Kaseki, Hades' Apprentice. They were going to execute all beasts and return their bijuu back home. They weren't going to harm their kind. Even beasts deserve love.

Nanashi explored the village known as the Village Hidden in the Darkness. He was enthralled with how lively and interesting it was (at least for the Land of the Dead). Nanashi walked through the streets with soft footsteps, his combat boots stepping carefully through the many as he tried not to step on anyone's toes. "A warrior with a giant, legendary sword on their back," he thought to himself with a quizzical brow. On his own back was a form he had mastered of the Soul Edge (the cursed weapon he required aid controlling).


A black zanbato with one of the edges curved. It had a unique shape to it, and behind it was some extensive force. Nanashi carried this blade on his back (though it did bring a certain level of attention onto him) as he walked through the streets. Amongst the crowd he saw one who also stood out: a red-haired woman of great beauty and strength. She carried a blade that seemed much larger than his own on her back, and with such ease to his eyes.

Could it be her? He hadn't known the one he sought was a girl...

Her greatest assassins had left her alone in her city. Her streets were full of citizens in ninja-in-training as well as the few mages who took to learning and studying jitsu as a way to get a better grasp on magic. The crossover of information was known to her since she was a child because of her brother. All of his greatest spells were cast over a guise of being a secret jitsu, a forbidden jitsu. But he had the essence of out-worldly magic. The scrolls, books and other texts were written by her and few who witnessed his true power.

But she carried other feats in the vault of her mind.

"Hey!" she called out. "Get those papers out of here. It's supposed to rain soon, if water gets on any of that, we're screwed!" She told the crowd of people walking about with various copies of text. Some had borrowed from the local library, while others had their own copies. But with the threat of monsters and beasts, every bit of information to someone's mastery was going to help. Even for small children.

She would turn to see a man whose face she hadn't seen before. An outsider for sure, and from the looks of the weapon he had, a bounty hunter. Perhaps here in search of power or knowledge like the rest, be it for himself or to educate on the monsters people had sighted.

"Lady Chikai, I heard Matatabi was in the western hills!" a man called out.

"Then we do our best to bring her back here for safety. Don't let the others hurt her."

"Yes Kuraikage!"

Nanashi seemed amused as he watched the admittedly beautiful leader in action - commanding her troops with such confidence and efficiency. She must have been the one he searched for. Floating a bit above the crowd as he watched her get to work. This was not meant to imply his lack of patience, but rather to have him "stand out" more or less. With a wide grin on his face the wanderer floated there in a crouched position. When the time came for him to get in a word - he spoke.

"Ah. You are the one I have been seeking - Shini Chikai. Could I have a moment of your time?" he asked with a raised eyebrow, his grin fixed on the side of his face. Though his bangs were long they did not get in the way of his purple eyes as they stared at the redhead ninja with curious interest.

Ascendance: Nanashi can hover in the air by manipulating the gravity around himself somewhat. The Speed of his flight is determined by his level (level = m/s). Height is scaled by class:
C-Class - 5 meters
B-Class – 10 meters
A-Class – 20 meters
S-Class - 35 meters
H-Class - 80 meters
X-Class - 250 meters
?-Class – ? meters

The people would begin to clear the streets as if a fight was to begin, but they were all rushing to carry information. They couldn't risk any of their texts or scrolls to be ruined by the rain. They needed to obey their leader, Shini . . .

"Make it fast, outsider." she spoke. She could feel the change in his goals with the beast. Something wasn't quite right.

Nanashi chuckled at her harsh, cold response. Such a stern leader she was. "Ouch.
No need for the hostile tone! I heard you were quite knowledgeable about this... world...," the black-haired wanderer explained. He then slowly began to unsheathe the black blade on his back, making sure to do it carefully so that she didn't assume a need to get defensive. As he held it upward in his hands the wanderer reverted the strange blade into its true form.



"I found this blade in my travels... and yet I don't understand it..." His face then turned rather serious. Hopefully she could help him understand... and maybe even control it.

With hair as bright as fire, it was no surprise to most about how hot headed she was. Shini would watch closely as the man took out his weapon. She already knew he meant no harm and was a curious wanderer at most. Even if he was a killer, a murderer or a bounty hunter, this meeting was called for his own knowledge. He was smart enough to ask nicely, than to start a fight with a woman who had secrets unknown even to her own brother.

"The cursed blade." She looked at it, knowing few of the stories tied to it. "I can tell you the story of Kali-Yuga, but all I know of this blade is the name Soul Edge."

Often people with cursed weapons and open minds were those of the kind souls. The tainted rarely ask for help if at all. She was sure the information she shared, would be used for his own safety, as well as the benefit of those around him.

"He's nothing more than an angry infant who feeds off blood." Shini would say. " . . . The sword I mean."

Nanashi listened with his head cocked to his right. Absorbing the knowledge she gave about the blade- Nanashi stared at it intensely. "Soul Edge huh....," he muttered in response. Twas an interesting name for such a dark blade. "In my travels...
I accidentally killed an unlucky few...," the wanderer reflected with sadness. He remembered their faces quite well, and quite possibly always would.

"Does any story explain how to control it?" he asked.

"No." Shini would answer him. "The story is about a man who made two swords, one of evil and one of good. Both parts of his own soul and took over him. His son tried to be like his father and take up the swords, took Soul edge, and was killed by the blade." She stopped, finding her story causing more concern than answers.

"My brother's blade was tainted by your sword from long ago. His too, has a soul. He learned to understand the blade without listening to it, if you get what he meant." Shini would quickly take out her own sword and plunge it into the ground.

"My blade too, feeds on blood. The blades don't care who is killed to feed them. So make your targets worth it."

Nanashi listened further as she explained to him what she knew of the blade. His frown grew more and more apparent with each word. Was this blade supposed to be his downfall then? He couldn't seem to free himself from it. The black haired blue-eyed wanderer grew more concerned for his own safety.. and that of the others who crossed his path. Would it not ask for his friends blood too? Suddenly however his eyes widened as she mentioned a way to understand it without listening to it. Taking out her own sword and plunging it first into the ground, his eyes focused on it and then returning their focus onto her.

The blade must be fed... but he could chose who it is fed on? That seemed... dark. But if it was the best course of action.. he supposed he had no choice. This was not the first dark power he was entrusted with. "So be it. Is there someone I could see however... to learn how to block out its voice at least? It can be quite irritating," he mentioned with flickering eyes.

There was an answer she could have given. She could have told the truth. But she knew better.

"Find a Kaljiitian or Undorian. They've been around since the dawn of time. They know everything of this realm." She spoke, hoping that if aynone could find these creatures, it was him. ". . . Thought I've never heard of anyone meeting them."

It seemed like a dim quest to give someone. She wasn't sure anyone could ever complete it. There was no guide she could give him. She only knew that they existed and they served Kaseki. Perhaps he was better at finding Kaseki first, but at that time, when he found her brother his sanity might be lost. She was uneasy. She didn't like her words at all.

"The cursed woman. . . " Shini thought to herself. Perhaps she would tell him, and let him make the choice himself.

"Or you can find a Viri." she spoke, almost holding her tongue. "There's a woman named Nissa. You'll find her most likely in Little Tokyo. Viri's are elfish people. She knows everything you want to know. She might not be the person you'd want to meet though." Shini spoke, lifting her weapon to return to her back.

"I'd suggest you find the beast men, if you can. . . if not, she might be your only other choice."

And that was all she could offer him.

Nanashi absorbed the knowledge, though admittedly his eyebrows lowered from the confusion of her explanation. He had never heard of these creatures. This would probably leave his travels even more troublesome. A long quest to find these...Kaljiitian or Undorian. He sighed. Slinging the weapon onto his back once more as his feet lightly touched the ground. She then spoke of an alternative - a woman named "Nissa" that he could also meet. He kept that in mind. If he should find nothing in the other lands he would go to her. It was ironic that she was in Little Tokyo - part of the Kingdom where he had picked up this cursed blade in the first place. "You've done me a great service.
Thank you for your wisdom, Yamikage," Nanashi said as he bowed. "The day will come when I repay the debt. Assuming I don't die before we meet again," he said with a grin.

And with that he headed out. She had made an ally out of him on that day.

She was glad to be of help to the man, however young or old he was. She was an oracle of knowledge, or at least someone who could tell you where to find your answers. But even she didn't know everything.

"Kuraikage." she corrected the man. "The village is Yami. . . "

It always seemed to be as if it was a joke she wasn't in on.
