He lay there, the mask at his side, he no longer wore his disguise. He didn't feel the need to, not now at least. His hands folded over his chest as he stared at the night sky. He lay on a bench that seemed to be just outside of the city. The park seemed empty, and under other circumstances would be creepy. But he wasn't alone. "Sorry I did that." he said to her. "I was. . . trying to be like him." A brief sigh would escape his lips. He just didn't want Mei to get hurt, not now, not ever. Getting a trophy wouldn't justify her wounds, even if only temporary. The stars seemed to be magical. They never seemed to move like they did before. The sky always looked the same. The same constellations, the same shapes, the same colors. It was a contract compared to the world that seemed to be as fluid as water, always taking a new form. |
