The Wanderer versus The Merc. (Private)

Nanashi in his travels found himself exploring the lost ruins of Albastion, a dead kingdom with nothing but rubble behind. He was unsure of why he had decided to investigate such a desolate place, as it was rather grim and boring. Five minutes after he had arrived he had already felt like leaving, having taken in the sight and already tired of it. He was armed with nothing but his black sword sheathed in its scabbard, his long spiked black hair fluttering in the sudden gust. It was a sunny day that would soon turn into sunset. Hopefully he would be out of here before night, for the night is dark and full of terrors.

Randous had been looking for the one known as Nanashi for days. There was someone who wanted his head, offering a hefty fee if he could deliver the stranger alive. Randous did not know this client's reasons, but little did he really care. Behind the helm of his armor Randous stared out into the massive ruins of the forgotten kingdom with his single eye. His target was there among the ruins as he had been told: seemingly standing for no reason with no apparent awareness that he was being hunted. That would soon change.

Strapped onto Randous' torso was his well-kept rifle. Nanashi would get to know it personally... as one of its bullets rushed joyously to greet him from fifty yards away.

Standing there minding his own business Nanashi was. Having done nothing and hurt no one he expected that he would be left alone without any trouble. When the round went off from Randous' gun however he was alerted to the man's presence, instinctively turning around in response to the shot. Pulling out his sword Nanashi slashed the incoming bullet in half, causing it to fall to the floor. He had taken care of the bullet and now had nothing but his attacker now who stood poised with his rifle. "What's this about!?" he called out to him with a hidden rage. He had done nothing to provoke this, and he felt massive disrespect. This was not something you did to a fellow traveler for no reason. With his blade at the ready the duel would begin.

And he would not lose.

Randous was not surprised that his quarry wasn't slayed by the sole bullet (it was meant as a warning shot after all) but he was impressed by the man's ability to slice the incoming projectile. That took courage and skill, which made Randous think this was going to actually be fun. His face was stoic, with the helmet only adding onto it behind his menacing eye. The worm asked him what this was about, as if he believed Randous had some personal score with him. "Talk to the man paying the bill. Or don't. Dead men have no words," he taunted behind the mask. He fired once more, this time firing two shots to riddle his torso one after the other. It was time for the hunt, time to see how long it took for him to beg the Mercenary for mercy. The only mercy Randous has was the merc in Mercenary.

And this man would die.

Nanashi made no response at the masked mercenary and his taunting remark. The wanderer knew the mercenary game and was surprised that even a realm like this money could be so important to some people. "Fair enough," he concluded. His advantages in this fight were few. This man was probably better armed, better protected, and possibly more experienced. The only advantage Nanashi felt he had was his magic which might give him enough of an edge to defeat this man. Two more of those bullets were coming toward Nanashi forcing him to dash away from the bullets. His path of movement was in Randous' direction at a diagonal, moving to the right of the bullets while still gaining ground toward him by a good five yards. Nanashi was many things but slow was not one of them, his movement quick and precise.

Swift: Nanashi is fairly quick on his feet. Gains +5 levels to Speed.

"He's quick as well..." the mercenary noted as Nanashi made a decent evasive maneuver from his bullets. With only one more round in the chamber Randous knew this rifle would serve no more use to him. He had gained all the information he was going to need, and he needed to engage this matter personally. By his estimation Nanashi was still a bit slower than him, and probably wasn't as strong either. Randous dropped the rifle to his side and reached for the blade sheathed on his back, if it was a duel of swords the man wanted before his death then so be it. Nanashi was making ground and Randous was going to meet him - charging with a swift vigor and his own trusty green-clothed blade.

"He's faster than I thought!" Nanashi thought in terror. The mercenary was moving swiftly to meet the wanderer with his own fine blade. If it was a battle of swords he wanted then that was exactly what he was going to get. As the two rushed to meet each other Nanashi made the first move; as soon as he was in range he would lean in, his hands tightly gripping his blade swung to the right. His blade would extend out to reach Randous from its 3ft reach as he tried to slash Randous across. He was armored but it would be broken down (at least eventually).

The two rushed out to meet each other with blade in hand. Randous prepared himself for what was to come, swinging his own blade in tandem with the wanderer's. His blade swinging in the opposite direction- the two clashed as Randous parried away the incoming strike with the sharp clanging sound of crashing metals resonating in the air. The mercenary followed up, his blade still gripped in both hands as he followed up with a counter, lunging his blade following his parry to dig into the left shoulder of the wanderer. Should the black, cloth-gripped blade looking to tear through muscle and protrude straight through the man's body. If it connected it would hurt.

But it would not kill him. Not yet anyway.

The two clashed their blades, Nanashi noting how much stronger Randous was as he forced the Wanderer to stumble back a few paces. He didn't have much time to process this new information as the mercenary rushed in for the counter. "I'm in over my head here," he quickly surmised. Nanashi skipped to the left on his back foot in an attempt to avoid the incoming sword trying to protrude his right shoulder. This man was dangerous and he needed to get away. Engaging him in melee combat was a folly that would only lead to a swift death. He wasn't sure if his magic could help him much here. He was in over his head and he needed to get away. Nanashi made a run for it, attempting to flee from the battle by fleeing to what would now be Randous' hindsight. He needed to escape.

Randous was surprised he was able to slip away from his attack, noting the man's skill for its merit. He was impressed. His albeit basic hearing could still pick up the fleeing haste of his prey, forcing Randous to pull out his side arm on his right side as he pivoted on his left foot. With swift precision he pulled the trigger releasing a singular bullet from the chamber. It rushed out to intercept Nanashi's escape and injure his leg before Nanashi could get more than twenty meters away.

The mercenary wouldn't let this bounty slip through his fingers.

He figured he could get away, that with a head start he just might be fast enough. Randous was committed to his strike and would take a second or two to position himself to go after him. Nanashi should have been long gone by then. But he hadn't foreseen the use of bullets. That was a huge mistake on his part. The bullet dug right into his upper thigh. Nanashi yelped in pain as he fell over, helpless, dropping his sword on the ground.

Things weren't looking good.

Nanashi's chances of winning or surviving this encounter plummeted greatly with the bullet digging into his leg. You couldn't tell it by the consistent expression of the masked mercenary, but this pleased him greatly. Twirling the blade in his left hand Randous taunted the wanderer in an uncharacteristic way. Normally he didn't do this much talking. "All out of luck it seems. Your head is as good as mine, kid." His tone was gruff, grating as he told the novice just how helpless he really was. "Don't worry. Your pain will be over quick."

Randous walked to him in a slow, almost celebatory stroll. The end was near.

Heizen had been wandering around Pandora for some time now. He had wondered why Anubis had grown tired of him, casting him aside and leaving him to his own devices. It was true he had yet to uncover his own powers yet, his lineage making it a bit hard for him to figure out his own abilities. Anubis grew tired of his son's weakness. The new keeper of the realm however, Kaseki, seemed to entrust him with one of the realm's most sacred artifacts. The jackal demigod knew not why however. Perhaps he believed in his potential? He would soon ask him.

In his travels of these ruins however he found himself in the midst of a strange encounter. An armored fellow seemed to be bullying a helpless traveler. The Jackal in his ceremonial clothing stared with questioning eyes. He eyed the helpless traveler for a brief moment before turning to face the armored mercenary. Unsheathing the blade Kaseki and Hades had entrusted to him Heizen called out to the armored merc, the red energy blade shining. Perhaps the blade’s fame would inspire fear from him, as Heizen slowly walked towards him. “Do not challenge me, young warrior. For I bring death,”he softly declared with a blank expression.

Nanashi said nothing as the jackal approached. He wasn't sure if anyone could save him, and chose to say nothing. This man was dangerous. He was... a true warrior. For now he waited for an opening. His magic was still in its beginning stages, but maybe he could get the drop on this fearsome menace.

Randous' eyes widened at the newcomer, though his mask made it hard to tell. "They're not part of the contract...," he muttered to himself. That blade... he recognized it. It was labeled as one of the mystical relics of this realm, and its wielders of great favor with Kaseki. "Fuck I don't think I can win against that...," he again muttered in his fear. He backed up a few paces, sheathing his sword.

And so his plan worked. Getting just within range of the wounded lad.. he placed a hand on his shoulder, and brought him back to complete vitality. The bullet wound would close and the young warrior would rise once again to aid Heizen. "Help me young warrior. Together we can defeat him," he whispered.

Healer's Touch:
