Zinnia had been called over by some strange old woman, a bored, yet curious look on her face. She really shouldn't be doing this, she thought to herself silently, she should be heading to the next town, to find that supposed 'demon' she had been hearing about. But, then again, this had been on the way, and she couldn't just pass up an opportunity to gain some money. Of course, Zinnia didn't know the exact details of the mission. What she found would surprise her.
With a slight sigh, she knocked on the door, her tail flicking back and forth impatiently. Normally, Zinnia was pretty calm and controlled, sly and logical, but today she was impatient to get whatever this was over with. Not her usual self, to be certain.
There was a click, and the door opened, to reveal an old lady. She seemed innocent enough. She seemed surprised, when she opened the door to find a wolf. Zinnia lightly tipped her head in greeting, and said in her usual, British-like voice, "No need to fret. I'm Zinnia, the one who said she was coming to help you out with your problem. You're Angelica, I presume?""
"Oh! A talking wolf? How peculiar! Come in, come in, my dear," said the old lady, beckoning for the wolf to enter. But as she entered, she quickly picked up the scent of something fowl, and her noise twitched at the smell. She didn't like it. It smelled awful. Like a rotting body, or something.
The woman soon lead the wolf to her living room. The smell was stronger here. It didn't so much as make Zinnia uncomfortable as it did make her curious.
"Anywho, yes, I am indeed Angelica. It's great I finally had someone to do my handy work for me. You see, I was serving tea to a lovely tax collector, when he suddenly fell, dead! I had realized that I had accidentally used poison in his tea, so I would like you to clean it up for me, dear! My son is coming over this afternoon, and I would rather he not discover this.... unfortunate accident!" the woman said.
Zinnia winced, and her ear flicked. As a bounty huntress, this didn't surprise her as much as it should have. Honestly, she worked for both sides. Light and dark. So there was really no need for her to get worked up over a small murder. She did smile some, however, when the lady mentioned she had used poison.
Flicking her tail, Zinnia said, "Ah, ma'am, such a greivous mistake you'e made. Nonetheless, I will gladly accept this challenge, if getting rid of the body is what you require."
Angelica smiled, and walked over to a closet. When she opened it, a dead body plopped out. Zinnia backed up in mild surprise. What a stupid woman, she thought, just letting a stranger see where she kept the dead body. Oh well.
