Finding a Freaking Cat [Private Job]

Job Information:

Venser muttered an obscenity under his breath as he walked through the streets of Ninja Town, having just walked away from his client. He disliked missions in the first place - You know exactly what the end goal is, unlike with scientific research where you had the joy of discovery. If it weren't for a sense of obligation to Shini for saving him, he likely wouldn't have even considered doing something like this, but he wanted to repay her in the best way he could. He knew he would have to start at the bottom of the totem pole when it came to missions, and he was prepared.

He wasn't prepared for a cat.

The client was some little girl or another; there were several in the village, and Venser had trouble remembering names. He thought this one was named Bon or something similar, but he wasn't going to take that chance. Either way, she said she had lost her cat and had put up a mission request for a low-ranking ninja to find it. It was one thing to put up a mission, but another to play up the cat aspect so much that when Venser had seen it, he thought it was a mission to track down a lion. Needless to say, he wasn't very amused right now.

Once he had taken and turned in the flier, though, there wasn't much that Venser could do about not taking the mission without forming a terrible reputation throughout the village. So he went to the little girl, told her he was supposed to find her cat for her, got a picture, and went off. It was a normal enough cat, to be sure; white, with orange and black spots. Venser had actually seen it around earlier today, over by the ramen shop; he would search over there, and get this over with. After that, he'd have a stern word with the people who maintained the job board (not like it would make a difference).

Venser arrived at the ramen shop a few minutes later; it wasn't the famous one (Itchy-Rock or something, Venser wasn't really sure), but it was close to Venser's current home and decent enough. After giving a greeting to the owner, the former Planeswalker gave the ramen stall a quick run-through, looking for the cat. It wasn't there; Venser hadn't really expected it to be, but it was the best place to start. Next, he would fan out, looking for the cat in progressively larger and larger circles. Given enough time, he had to find the stupid cat somewhere. Even if it was a cat.

Venser continued to search for the cat for the next couple of hours, progressively getting further and further from the ramen shop. He was considering giving up; this cat obviously did not want to be found, and it would probably just return to it's owner within a few days anyway. Venser stretched a bit, ready to return home.

Until his eye caught something fantastic.

Above him was the cat he was looking for, gliding on the air the same way a flying squirrel flew between trees. Venser just stood there, slack-jawed; could the cats here really do that? As it turned out, he didn't have much time to ponder that, as the cat landed between a pair of buildings not far from where Venser was. He took off towards them, happy to get this over with.

Venser dashed towards the pair of buildings, skidding to a stop right where he had seen the cat land. The cat he was targeting was walking down an alleyway, seemingly oblivious to the ninja ten meters behind it that was currently in the middle of searching for it. It was a perfect opportunity to not only finish the job, but to test out one of Venser's new Jutsus as well.
Venser relaxed and focused, forming the Ram handsign as he pooled his chakra in the way that had been diagrammed. This would be hit or miss; if he failed, Venser could well be searching for this cat for the rest of the day.
Taking a deep breath, Venser disappeared in a flash of smoke.

As it turned out, it was both a hit and a miss.
Venser materialized five feet above the cat, landing on it unintentionally. A short scuffle followed thereafter, as the cat tried to escape Venser's grasp and Venser held onto the common tabby cat for dear life, but eventually the cat tired out and Venser got up, cat in hand. He winced a bit as he got on his right leg, the cat having gone to town scratching it in it's frenzied escape attempts. It was kind of shameful, really; Venser thought he would have this done easily, but he even got injured. It just goes to show how unpredictable this world could be.

Within the next hour, Venser returned the cat to the overjoyed little girl, reported his success to the guy at the front desk of the Kuraikage's office (along with the aforementioned strong words), and bandaged the cut he got from the cat. On his way out of the Kuraikage's building, Venser's thoughts turned back to the Multiverse. It was entirely possible that he would never get out there again; if so, making sure his stories lived on would be the best course of action. He needed to find another Planeswalker with which he could spread his tales; and, perhaps, let his friends know that he was not dead.
It was a sunny day in Ninja Town as Venser entered his house, his work done for the day.
